Giving Tuesday

unknown

Giving Tuesday was created when two organizations, the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation came together in 2012, about a month before that year’s Thanksgiving. Their intention was to set aside a day that was all about celebrating the generosity of giving, a great American tradition.

Please make a donation today to help Valley Family Center continue to serve those in need in the community.  Go to our Donate page and give generously!

Counseling

counselingWe all encounter difficult moments in our lives; times when we feel a need for support, guidance, and simply someone to listen to the many problems that arise. Perhaps you’ve been feeling down, lonely, or frustrated about the relationship with your spouse or your children.

At Valley Family Center, we are here to help you through these challenges, give you the support you need, and walk with you as you choose to make decisions that will lead to a better life for you and your family.

On October 20, 2016 We held our annual Fall Fundraiser.  With a generous grant from the William S. Hannon Foundation, we are able to raffle off an trip for 2 to Hawaii.  We want to thank all the Sponsors, In Kind Donors and Individuals who purchased raffle tickets.  We were able to raise close to $30,000 for the Center.

History

Valley Family Center was founded as a non-profit 501(c) (3) agency in 1987 to address the counseling needs of the San Fernando community. Over the years, programs grew to meet the needs in the community. Programs include individual, couple and family counseling, programs for adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, anger management classes, parent education and an after school tutoring program for children. Last year the Center served 978 unduplicated clients through the counseling and educational programs. Thirty-eight percent of clients received multiple services, for coordinated care. An additional 1,095 community members we reached through outreach and education about domestic violence.

The Learning Center Up and Running

2016-10-20-15-04-45

In September, we once again opened the doors to The Learning Center.  In The Learning Center we offer after school tutoring and mentoring for elementary school aged children.  These children are able to receive close to one-on-one help with their homework after school each day.  Thanks to all the volunteers who help staff this program!  It really makes a difference in the lives of these children.
