About Us

Valley Family Center (VFC) was founded in 1987 with the mission to provide counseling and educational services that facilitate personal growth, strengthen the family unit, and protect human dignity for all persons in need.

To achieve the mission, Valley Family Center provides individual, couple and family therapy, coordinated services for victims, children, and perpetrators of domestic violence and parenting education.The Learning Center provides tutoring and academic support for at-risk youth.

Last year, Valley Family Center served 978 unduplicated clients through on-site programs, and an additional 1,095 through outreach and education.

Valley Family Center is a non-profit, non-sectarian, 501 (c) 3 organization that is committed to making its services accessible to the low-income community of the San Fernando Valley who could not afford these services otherwise. Culturally competent programs are provided in English and Spanish. All program fees are based on a sliding scale, according to the ability to pay.

We continue to work diligently since we believe that our relationship with our clients is the single most important factor in successful therapy. We believe you can find a therapist here that will connect well with you, as a unique individual, and your particular life situation. When you come in for your appointment, you will be greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable staff and asked to complete some paperwork designed to help us better understand your needs and give you more information about our services.

Our Services Make a Difference

COUNSELING PROGRAMS
help clients deal with relationship issues, depression and anxiety, and issues related to domestic violence through individual and family therapy.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS PROGRAMS
serve women and children who are victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse, through case management, professional individual and family counseling and support groups.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COURT MANDATED BATTERERS’ PROGRAM
is one of the largest in the Valley with 7 groups that meet weekly for 52 weeks.

THE PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAM
is a 16-32 or 52 week course that serves parents who are struggling with the daily challenges of being the best parent possible to their children.

THE LEARNING CENTER
provides after school tutoring to children who are failing in school, through individualized instruction, socialization, and positive role models.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS
helps to educate service providers and community members through outreach presentations.
