Valley Family Center History
Valley Family Center was founded as a non-profit 501(c) (3) agency in 1987 to address the counseling needs of the San Fernando community.
Over the years, programs grew to meet the needs in the community. Programs include individual, couple and family counseling, programs for adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, anger management classes, parent education and an after school tutoring program for children.
During 2025 made some incredible achievements:
* We served 394 individuals through one or more of our Child and Family Counseling programs. We have found that on average our clients are participating in an increased number of sessions (30 sessions vs. 15 sessions in previous years) during their time at the Center. This means that the current clients we are treating come back for more sessions of therapy sessions as in previous years. The more therapy sessions a person attends, the better and more long lasting the results of the therapy can be.
* We have found that 85% of counseling clients successfully completed their treatment plans.
* Our support group clients achieved an 83% attendance rate.
* Evaluation Tool scores show improvement in 87% of our clients, and that Valley Family Center is especially effective in helping clients who suffer from anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual abuse and depression.
* Valley Family Center administers satisfaction surveys to clients after 8 weeks of service, and at the last session of counseling. The data shows that for this reporting period, 86% of counseling clients say their situation has improved, 94% said that they received the help that they had hoped they would receive, and 92% said that they would return in the future if they needed further counseling services.
Valley Family Center and staff work extremely hard to ensure that each client is treated with dignity and respect. This caring attitude is reflected in the goals and benchmarks we have met and often exceeded. We strive to make the Center a warm and welcoming place for clients who do not always receive the warmest of welcomes at other agencies.
